WHAT'S HOT?

All over the internet the other day were images of the other nights Met Gala. As I glanced, well who am I kidding, studied each image, I was surprised by how many women chose to wear dark lips.  I know it's really in for fall but what if it doesn't suit your face or it's to harsh for your features? Well NARS has created a lipstick and gloss called 413 Blkr which has just the right amount of the pigmentation, warm rose brown, that is so popular for fall but it is light enough for just about everyone to wear.  The lipstick is great because it's matte which can be easily blotted away for a more natural finish and the gloss is great over a nude pencil for more pop.  Remember, fads in makeup are like fads in clothing, you need to consider what works well for you and make accommodation's for that. By taking your own style and needs into consideration you create beauty simply!

BALMS ARE BETTER!!

I'm really into "Balms" nowadays.  So convenient and simple to use and packed with nutrients and vitamins.  The other day I spoke about a new line "Squid Balm" which I found at my local farmers market.  Their products, including their original Squid Balm for dry skin and eczema, is all natural and super potent.  I also love the coveted Koh Gen Do Moisture Veil Balm.  It's full of anti-oxidents and 36 botanical extracts.  It turns dull lack-luster skin into butter with literally just one use!  A little goes a long way too so you get more bang for your buck!  Another convenient factor of the balms is they travel so well.  So no explosions in your suitcase and no hassle from our friends at TSA. So you get beauty and simplicity all in one.

WRINKLES! OH MY!!

I recently got an inquiry about wrinkles.  How to avoid them. How to deal with them. How to get rid of them.  Unfortunately the best way to prevent wrinkles is by not going out in the sun.  If you absolutely have to then wear a hat to protect your face and use lots of spf.  I also recommend using anti aging products that protect your skin.  Products that contain antioxidants like Vitamin C and E. If you already have those nasty little buggers and prefer not to get botox and fillers, there are some fabulous peels that aren't super expensive that work really well.  Also, I love products that have peptides and hyalauranic acid  in them.  They plump up the skin and fill in the wrinkles because they actually help the skin hold water. I love Youth Code Intense Serum by L'oreal because it can be used with your existing regime and it justs boosts it's effectiveness with it's GenActiv Technology.  Skin looks rested, smoother and youthfully luminous!  In one little bottle?  Sounds good to me!

BEACH BABY!

I don't talk hair very often but with summer coming it's only fitting to talk about beach hair.  Like shown here on Kate.  My ultimate favorite!  Me loves sexy, wavy beachy hair. And my favorite way to bring the beach to you if you can't get to it is with Frederick Fekkai Beach Waves.  It has Sea Kelp extract for hydrating hair.  Marine peptides for repairing damaged hair and sea water to help sustain long term moisture.  Spray a few pumps all over your hair and section the hair in four parts. Twist each part into a soft braid and allow to dry.  If that doesn't provide enough curl take small sections and twirl it around your finger.  It's so simple and the effect is so beautiful and sexy!!

CONVERTIBLE COVERAGE!

In my constant quest for simple products I certainly have found it in Guerlain. I love, love, love concealer/foundation duos.  They totally embody my philosophy on creating beauty simply. Guerlain's is so moisturizng it's like a tall drink of water!  The two colors fuse together so well and it  covers so fantastically yet you don't even feel as if you're wearing makeup at all.  It's soft coverage also provides a spf of 20 so you can be sure that your protected as well as looking beautiful.  Use the lighter color under your eyes and around your nose and blend into the darker shade as needed.  Simple truly has never looked so beautiful.

GORGEOUS GISELE!

Gisele Bundchen is the face of Esprit. And what a beautiful face indeed!  I love these ads too. They bring such relevance to a line that I feel had kinda been lost.  The clothes are simple and classic. And the ads are so simple in style but beautiful and elegant.  What I love the most is it looks as though Gisele is wearing little or no makeup.  I'm sure she is of course but her natural beauty transcends anything a makeup can do.  My philosophy on makeup always is the unveil ones inner beauty not mask it and I approach every client that way. Try looking in the mirror and pick your favorite feature and then highlight that. Put your focus there.  Not on what you DON'T like about yourself.  Using a product like Cream Cheeks Trio by Smashbox can help highlight cheeks and bring color to them without looking like your wearing makeup at all. Just like beautiful Gisele here.  Keeping your look simple and beautiful is always best!

WHAT'S IN A NAME?!

  Thinking about the name of my blog "Simple Beaute" and really defining what that means to me,  I'm reminded of exactly why I love that concept.  I love things that are simple and pure, and I believe the most beautiful things are simple and uncomplicated.  Like nature for example.  Even the most intricate of flowers like an orchid is simple and elegant and just "is,"  without apology, beautiful and pure.  I am constantly striving for beauty in my life.  I like to surround myself with beautiful things.  Most especially beautiful things that are simple as well.  Like makeup that's pretty but easy to do. Or products that make you feel beautiful but are so basic in their ingredients. Calling on nature to nurture.  I found a great line of skincare products at my local farmers market called "Squid Balm" that embodies this philosophy. Started by a mom trying to create a balm for her daughter, nicknamed "Squid" who had bad eczema and allergies, she developed products that contain little but powerful ingredients that promote healing of the skin.  I bought her cleansing oil which not only removes makeup but doesn't strip the skin of it's natural oils. It leaves my skin clean, soft and hydrated and there are literally 5 ingredients in it! After using it I thought, "this is exactly what I need, nothing more."  Then I thought "this is truly a metaphor for life.  Things that are the most meaningful and that we find the most pleasure in usual are the simplest."

ORO GOLD!!

If it's good enough for Cleopatra then it is certainly good enough for me!! Cleopatra was the quintissential beauty and she was known to have worn a mask of gold at night to keep her complexion supple and pure. Gold is an antioxidant. I love bringing you guys great beauty bargains cause let's face it, we can all stand to save money right now!! These are some products that you can get at the drugstore that in my opinion, work just as well as the more expensive counterparts.
The first one is Wet N Wild lip and eye pencils.  They glide on easily and they stay on! In a variety of colors too! For $1, you can't beat it.

I love Burt's Bees tinted lip balm which for only $7 they give nice tint, add great moisture and come in 6 shades.  I also like that they have natural ingredients.
Johnson's Baby oil Gel is great for adding moisture after the shower but what I like to use it for as well as giving that glow to legs and arms on a night out to add that sexy shimmer at about $5.
Lastly, people ask me all the time what skincare I like.  Although there are some expensive brands that I like, for $15 I stand behind Yes To Tomatoes Daily Balancing Moisturizer.  It's all natural, mild formula hydrates but doesn't weigh your skin down or break you out.  It also contains antioxidants so it protects and is anti-aging. Can't beat that!!

HOME SPA!

I have the fondest memories of spending Friday nights with my friends applying yogurt to our faces to achieve softness and egg mixtures in our hair to hydrate it.  I love staying home giving myself home spa treatments.  Especially if you’re on a budget, home treatments can give you the feeling of a day spa without damaging your pocket book. I’m gonna give you these two treatments so you can pamper yourself too.  The yogurt mask is great because it brightens, calms and softens the skin.  Take full fat yogurt and mix 1-2 drops of lemon juice to it.  The citric acid will brighten your skin.  Then add 1-2 teaspoons of honey and blend together.  The honey has calming properties and reduces redness.  Apply mixture to face for 15 minutes and then wash off.  That’s it! Simple and low budget!  The other home treatment I love is for the hair.  So easy to do.  Simply take one egg, mix it with 1 tsp. of water.  Run it through your hair and leave it on for 10-15 minutes.  It will add shine and softness to damaged hair.  I love doing these treatments once or twice a month.  Get a group of friends together and make a party out of it. A great way to create beauty and fun!

CREATE THE PURRFECT CAT EYE!

When trying to create the perfect cat eye that is so popular right now try taking a credit card and place it flat against your skin so that you form a roughly 45-degree angle from the outer corner of your upper lash line to the outer corner of your brow.  Sweep liquid liner along the upper lash line and as far past the corner of the eye as you like, using the top of the card as a guide.  This will create that purrfect cat eye that all the runways are showing.  Simply and beautifully!

MAGIC LUMI!!

I always love it when I find a product that is a reasonable price AND really works!  I really have found that in Magic Lumi by L'oreal Paris. Modeled after the more expensive version, Touche Eclat by YSL, Magic Lumi is a great highlighter and concealer. Brightens, erases and contours all in one easy clicking pen. And the price is right at about $11 as compared to $40 for the YSL.
Simple to use! Beautiful finish!

CELEBRITY BIRTHDAYS!

Two of my favorite celebrities are having birthdays this month.  Kate Hudson and Ashley
Judd.

I love them both cause they embody my philosophy of beauty on a simple level.
 
Both are strong women who seem to juggle professional and personal lives with grace
and ease and they both look beautiful with a lot or a little makeup on. They make it all
look effortless.

Recently I saw the most gorgeous picture of Kate Hudson with her mom
at an event and she was glowing. She emanates beauty and health, inside and out.  

Ashley Judd is an amazing actress who isnʼt afraid to leave the makeup off for a role but
looks just as beautiful made up for an event.

She most recently has taken heat for her appearance due to using a steroid for an illness.
I applaud her standing up for herself and discussing what truly is important- who we are inside,
not what we look like on the outside.
